About a year and a half ago we were asked to do a Tablescape for Portland Bride & Groom Magazine. They asked us to use unique cake plates and that they needed to be available for rent. It was then that we realized there was a huge need for a Vintage Rental Company in the Portland area. Rachelle and I started researching and shortly after launched Champagne Vintage Rentals, which was a small boutique addition to Champagne Wedding Coordination. We started searching and scouring every vintage shop we could find… our love for pink depression and milk glass developed quickly! It was so fun finding items that we knew had so much history for clients to be able to add to their wedding day! Champagne Vintage Rentals has been featured on Style Me Pretty, On to Baby, Portland Bride & Groom Magazine and more!

Since starting Champagne Vintage Rentals, there have been Vintage Rental Companies pop up in Oregon. Because there are now many great Vintage Rental companies that have been established in the area, we no longer feel the need to fulfill that niche. We are thrilled to announce that we have sold our inventory to Something Borrowed Eco-Events and Vintage Rentals!!

Lane’ and Kellie at Something Borrowed will take great care of all of your Vintage Rental needs! Their inventory includes: chalkboards, frames, couches, dinnerware, cake stands, dressers, linens, signs, tables, trunks, milk glass vases and more! Head on over and check them out!

We will miss the Vintage Rentals, but are happy that they will remain in the Portland market! Collecting all of the unique pieces truly was a labor of love, but our passion is planning, designing and coordinating weddings! We are very excited to be able to focus solely on Coordination clients!

More exciting news…

We are moving!! It’s hard to believe we have been in our office space for 2 years already! We loved being right in the heart of the Pearl, but are really excited to move to a new cozy location next week! Our space will be located in the Green Castle Building at 11560 Southwest 67th Avenue Portland, Oregon 97223. We’ll share pictures as soon as we get settled in or better yet, set up a time to come visit us!

Champagne: How did Nashelle begin?

Lauren: Our Founder & Owner Heather Nashelle Straw’s Bio:
Growing up I thought I was going to be a shoe designer or dress maker.  I envied all of my friends that could make jewelry; for me, it did not come naturally.  After studying metal arts at the University of Alaska Southeast, it opened up a whole new world of design, and from that I became inspired by the simplicity of metal and stone combined.  When I work, it is almost as if the designs come naturally to their own completion.  I pay a lot of attention to the changing of the seasons and draw on nature for inspiration, but I also pay a lot of attention to the many facets of women and how we change our look depending on our mood.
I started Nashelle jewelry about 12 years ago.  Many of my friends remember me sitting on my living room floor day after day creating, and literally selling jewelry off my own neck.  In the year 2005, shortly after I gave birth to my first son, I decided to take my little business to a national level and began selling wholesale.
In 2006, I took a leap of faith and leased a large warehouse in the beautiful town of Bend, Oregon to facilitate our growth.  We are now a team of 20 amazingly talented designers, jewelry makers, and office bees.  Each person brings a different element to the company and to the Nashelle line.  The response continues to be tremendous and I am SO grateful that I have been able to turn my passion into my lifelong career.
We spend each day listening to great music while designing and creating gorgeous jewelry for women to enjoy.  We take pride in the fact that we use recycled 14k gold fill and sterling silver materials, as well as natural gemstones.  Also, none of our designs are mass produced or outsourced and we have no intention of that ever happening.  Every piece truly is handmade to order with love and intention.

Champagne:  Is there a meaning behind the name Nashelle?

Lauren: Nashelle is Heather, our owner & founder’s middle name

Champagne: What is unique about Nashelle jewelry?

Lauren: Every piece is handmade to order, so each piece has an artisan touch that makes it one of a kind.  Our jewelry is also completely customizable; you can choose your metal (14k Gold Fill, Sterling Silver or Brass), you can choose your stones (we have over 38 stone colors), and you can personalize pieces with names, dates, symbols, etc. In being able to choose from so many options, you are able to create an item truly custom to you or that special someone you are gifting.  We can also help design and make pieces if you have something specific in mind you want to see come to fruition.

Champagne: You offer many lines of jewelry, but some specifically are great for brides and bridal parties—which ones are those?

Lauren: Our Signature & Echo collections are great for a very feminine look.  Signature has a bit more of a bold/statement look, and Echo has smaller more dainty pieces.  Both you can customize metal & stones to create the perfect piece for any type of wedding. 

For bridal parties, our Identity collection has been very popular.  Brides can put together a piece with very special meaning.  Whether it is a piece stamped with the wedding date, a special word or phrase the bride and her bridal party share, a name or initial, there are many options.  A couple of my friends have ordered Nashelle Identity pieces for their bridal parties and have loved the way it captures that important day in their lives.

Champagne:  How long does the process of picking out and ordering jewelry through Nashelle usually take?

Lauren: It depends on whether we are designing a new piece for you, or if you are choosing something out of our line.  If we are designing a piece for you, we request about three weeks.  If you are ordering out of our line it’s a week to two weeks to receive the items.  However, we can accommodate rushes as well.

Champagne:  Is everything custom-created?

Lauren: Everything is handmade to order, so essentially yes. There is something nice about knowing your jewelry was not mass produced.

Champagne:  Tell us more about you and your role at Nashelle!

Lauren: I am the Sales & Marketing Manager for Nashelle, and have been here for a little over four years now.  My job is unique in the sense that I don’t really do the same thing every day, which I love!  I work with a really great team of people not only here at Nashelle, but our sales reps based out of Los Angeles and New York as well.  A couple of times a year I travel to these cities for our trade shows, where I get meet and work with our buyers and spend time with our reps.  I also work closely with our PR company that is based out of Los Angeles as well.  Not only is it a lot of fun to be doing something related to the fashion industry, but also something so rewarding with all that Nashelle does to give back locally and globally with our ‘Pay it Forward’ mission.

Champagne: What do you like to do when you’re not doing jewelry!?

Lauren: There is so much to do in Bend in it’s hard to say, if you have been here you know we have a lot of outdoor activities!  We do a lot of hiking, camping, snow shoeing, and mountain biking.  I have an awesome dog park across the street from me where I enjoy taking my two pugs.  I love to play poker, read, and spend time with my family & friends.

Champagne: Can you tell us more about Nashelle’s Pay it Forward mission?

Lauren: Nashelle is dedicated to extending a helping hand to those in need, in our own little community and beyond.  It is our intention that with every piece of jewelry we sell, we are able to give back to those in need… whether it be in helping to feed or clothe a child, aid a family with unforeseen medical expenses, or supporting our local schools.
It is Nashelle’s belief that if we start locally, it can extend globally.  By ‘paying it forward’ we hope to encourage others to give what they can to their own communities, and continue a spirit that is generous in love in the global community that we all share.
We are inspired by each true life experience. Knowing we are all working hard in big and also simple ways to make our world a better place…That is what is so very important.
We recently launched the newest part of our ‘Pay it Forward’ mission, a powerful collaboration!  100% of the net proceeds of our ‘Be The Change’ necklace go to support Food for the Hungry’s work in supporting female entrepreneurs all over the world.
