Champagne met up with Shawn for a little Q&A so you could learn a little more about why Event Team Entertainment is one of the best DJ’s in the business.

Champagne: Why is it important to have a good DJ? 
Shawn: I believe the DJ/Entertainment can absolutely make or break your wedding day.  You only get one shot to get this day absolutely right so you want someone that cares about your wedding and who has time to make sure every detail is covered.  Interview potential options and try to find a personality match.  Basic DJ’s are a dime a dozen so seek out an entertainer
who can guide and direct your evening with grace & class while also acting as your emcee.  Check out Wedding Entertainment Director to see if you might want something a little different from your DJ.

Champagne: We couldn’t agree more. How do we get people involved at the wedding?
Shawn: We always ask many questions to find out if and how much interaction our client desires for their special day.  We have some customers who want many different ideas to keep people entertained and having fun.  Some would rather have us focus on playing great music and keeping a low key presence. We find that during the process of getting to know our clients we are able to determine their needs and deliver just the right level of involvement for them.

Champagne: We can’t help but ask… We’ve had DJ’s in the past get on the table and dance, dress up in costumes. How do my clients know you’re not going to do this?
Shawn: This is a great questions and our approach to your wedding is simple. In our minds this is a black tie affair so we dress in tuxedo or suit attire based on the highest level of dress attire you are expecting.  We don’t change costumes, we don’t dance on tables, we don’t smoke, we don’t drink alcohol and we don’t hit on your guests.  Please feel free to contact us for a list of references that can share more about their experiences with our services.

Champagne: Do you have video of event you’ve done for potential clients to see you in action?
Shawn: Absolutely and I will go a step further and let you know you can find several videos featured on our website at videos . I also want to share if a DJ/Entertainer has no videos how are you supposed to determine their level of professional ability? I would never just “take their word for it” because only 18% of our industry DJ’s as a profession.

Champagne: It’s so important to see your entertainment (Band or DJ) preform before the event. What is your favorite part of the job?
Shawn: Absolutely the #1 best part of this job is meeting and working with new and amazing couples every weekend.  It is so much fun to be a part of this incredible beginning for all of our clients.  The second best part is all of the unique locations we get to work at for our many different clients.

Champagne: This question is just for fun. Where would you go if you could take off for a month long vacation?
Shawn:  Since 7th grade, I have always wanted to visit Australia.  It has been 23 years and I still have not been, but I know my wife & I will be taking our 4 year old
son Jackson and our new 4 month old twin girls Madison & Mallery as soon as they all get a little older.
