Love story giveaway details inside…
In honor of Valentine’s day coming up this weekend, we decided to put together a fun little giveaway to celebrate love and continue with the theme of love all week! Though I’ve never been one to be too excited about Valentine’s day because for one I think you should do nice things for each other all of the time. Secondly, it ends up making singles wish they had someone [I’ve been there…We’ve all been there!], but we couldn’t help but spread the love!
We partnered up with Paul Rich of Paul Rich Studio who is giving away a photo session! Check out a sampling of some engagement and family sessions below and at the bottom of the post you’ll find the rules and how to enter in the giveaway!

[1] Where did you meet?
The first time I ever saw him, he was holding the door open for me. I remember thinking he was beautiful, which made me blush.
[2] How long have you been together?
Almost 4 years
[3] What do you love most about the love of your life?
He is full of surprises. I almost have him convinced that I have him figured out, but I love the unexpected things he does. Sometimes he will say something so out of character that I will laugh until I nearly hyperventilate. Other times he can be particularly thoughtful. He is amazing.
[4] Your love story:
He held the door open for me as I went to visit a friend to make dinner plans. She asked to invite two of her colleagues and when we met up, he was one of them. We became close friends over the next few months, but I moved away for a job and we fell out of touch. When I returned, he was one of the first people I called. A few months later, we started dating and he proposed 5 days ago.

WHERE DID YOU MEET? We don’t tell many people this, but I suppose the cat is out of the bag now. We met via MySpace. Billy was packing up his car and moving to Portland, state unseen. He used MySpace to network with other graphic designers — I happened to be one he found. He blindly wrote and asked me some questions about the graphic design scene in Portland, and I replied. I told him not to move here..there’s to many graphic designers. He didn’t listen.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER: We met in February of 2006, so 4 years.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE THE MOST ABOUT THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE? This is an easy one. Besides making me laugh and being an all around fantastic person, Billy loves me unconditionally, for who I am. I don’t think anyone could ask for anything more in a partner.
YOUR LOVE STORY: Ours is a not-so-classic case of holding out (a LONG time) for the right person, because something just told you that’s what you’re supposed to do. When we met I was 32 and he was 33. Neither of us had ever been married, nor engaged. We’d both had our fair share of being single and being in committed relationships. Billy had been the bachelor vagabond and I spend the previous almost 15 years experimenting with relationships that required too much settling. I was ‘over it’ and practically ready to give up— when that vagabond bachelor rolled into town.
As mentioned above, we communicated via MySpace for a few weeks…he asking me for advice on where to buy a retro couch and me sending him a list of a dozen or so vintage shops around town. I wasn’t brown-nosing, I’m just thorough. To thank me he offered to take me out for pizza and a drink — I accepted. Contrary to the way I’d normally handle these situations (wondering, before I even left the house, if this could be “the one”) I met him with no expectations. We ordered pizza and a drink, and 3 hours later hadn’t even realized that the restaurant had emptied out and closed. Over the course of the next two months we saw each other less than a half dozen times, at which point I realized there was definitely something different going on with this guy. And there was.
I think 6 months after we started dating we both new this was it. It’s a lot easier when you have many years of dating the wrong people to compare the right person to! We were engaged the following April – the best day of my life (besides the wedding) — and married the following June. Our wedding day was so us, and I wouldn’t change a thing about it (maybe the weather…it was 105 degrees). It was the only day I would see all of my favorite people in one place together — to me that’s priceless.
It’s 4 years since we first met and we’re expecting our first baby. It’s an exciting and scary time, but I can’t imagine going through it with a more perfect partner, and someone who is most definitely my best friend. The only thing I regret is meeting Billy a little later in life. I wish we’d had those extra 10 years to spend together. On the other hand, I wouldn’t change a thing if I thought for a minute my life would turn out differently.

[1] Where did you meet?
The first day of Chiropractic school and I new I had to get my hands on him!
[2] How long have you been together?
We have been together since May 5th 1998
So, 12 years… Married Ten years in April!
[3] What do you love most about the love of your life?
The harmony we have as parents, business owners and lovers. We aren’t afraid to explore, indulge and reward for good behavior!
[4] Your love story:
I met Christopher just before the first day school. I had jammed all of my things into a locker at New York Chiropractic School and some of the girls in my suite said we were going to a bar to meet the rest of our class. We walked out into the courtyard of the dorms and this tall, broad-shouldered, beautiful, great calves man walked out of the dorm in front of us. He was holding a bottle of champagne, home brew and a few glasses. I couldn’t breathe. He hugged a classmate and looked over the crowd of girls and pointed at me and asked if I’d like to join him for a drink. Since I couldn’t breathe I couldn’t speak either. So I nodded… sure. Then he quickly invited all of us to come up to the suite above mine, to have a party with the upper class-men …and women, I would soon find out! After meeting the rest of our class at ‘Reds’ we returned to our dorm, I ventured upstairs to a room full of supermodel type women (classic for chiropractic school). Mildly discouraged and somewhat disgruntled I returned to my dorm room and the mentality of only coming to NYCC to study.
A couple of weeks went by as our class and the class just above us (Christopher’s class) would pass by each other a couple times a day. I saw him smiling and waving every day at me. I was convinced by then, since I saw him in my dorm every day, that he must have been dating one of the supermodels upstairs. After all, he was 6’2” and a mix of (younger- not pretty in pink but more of the suave 20’s JS) James Spader wrapped up in a Brendan Fraser goofiness. I proceeded to completely ignore him, even though I thought I was going to throw up or laugh uncontrollably every time he was within 2 ft of me.
One day he was sitting in my dorm room on the couch talking to a classmate. I walked by and said hi, and raced to my room. After about 3 hours of studying and an insatiable appetite, I went out to the kitchen area to see my suite mate, looking rather disappointed. She promptly told me off and that Christopher had been trying for 2 weeks to ask me out. I can’t remember the details of what happened next, but somewhere between the hike around the falls and wine country he told me that the first night he saw me, he told his mom that I was the one he was going to marry. Gotta love a guy with determination and conviction.
It’s ten years this year. We have one perfect child, several clinics and when I least expect it, he takes my breath away.
