Happy Valentine’s Day!!

It’s the day of love! Wait, shouldn’t every day be dedicated to love? We think so! While today is the perfect excuse to get dressed up and go eat out or eat in, get chocolates, flowers and sometimes even a sparkly diamond! [Last year, that’s definitely what I was hoping for- even though I claim not to celebrate Valentine’s day! I thought, hey if he thinks I don’t celebrate it, then maybe he’ll think I won’t expect it or it’ll make me like it in the future! Yeah, I was wrong, but the perfect day came and now it’s crazy to think back, as we’re already married!!] While today is Valentine’s day, there are many more excuses to get boudoir photos taken- as there’s always birthdays, wedding presents, anniversaries and best of all, a random gift of love! So get to know Evoke A Vivid Impression of Reality!

Champagne: How is Evoke different than other boudoir photography companies?

Evoke Boudoir: Our cutting edge products coupled with fun, fresh, high end photography and cinematography makes us the Northwest’s premier boudoir company. Our motion products are the first of it’s kind within the industry and our still products make one-of-a-kind gifts!

Champagne: Why brides?

Evoke Boudoir: There isn’t a sexier, more romantic gift on the planet to give your man the night before your wedding! Giving a groom stunning photos and/or a short video of you looking amazing is something he’ll never forget. Document your beauty, so neither of you will ever forget how gorgeous you truly are.

image

Champagne: What sort of products/gifts do you offer?

Evoke Boudoir: To feature your gorgeous images we’ve got photo flasks, calendars, playing cards, centerfold books, pillowbook albums, bedside prints, and even a gorgeous leather box to hold everything (plus whatever naughty things you’d like to add). Our products are high-quality and custom designed to be gift that won’t soon be forgotten. We have photos and descriptions of all of our products on our site.

Champagne: What’s with the fusion videos?

Evoke Boudoir: I met Marc a few years back and saw what an amazing cinematographer he was from the get-go. When I decided to pursue boudoir photography, I knew I had to find a way to put his talent to work, and create the first motion-still fusion videos within the boudoir industry. We did some research and couldn’t find another company offering anything like it. We are thrilled with the outcome and our clients absolutely love what we come up with for them! Their men like it even more!

Champagne: How about something for my bachelorette party?

Evoke Boudoir: Have some girlfriends that would love to do a shoot too? Perfect! We love a good party! You and your gals book the room, we’ll show up with champagne and chocolate in hand! Our parties are super affordable for each of your gals, and typically the bride doesn’t spend a dime! What a fun way to kick off your bachelorette party! It only takes an hour or two, and then you’re on your way to dinner, or the club!

Champagne: How would you describe your style and approach?

Evoke Boudoir: Our style is fun, fresh, dramatic, flirty and definitely sexy.  We love to get to know our clients and determine what they want from the experience. We then customize the style and approach of the shoot and decide how best to represent our clients vision. At the end of the day, we’re all about having fun and creating something unique to each client.

Champagne: What do you do when you’re not doing what you do?

Evoke Boudoir: I co-own and operate studio ESS, a creative and unique portrait studio. Marc is the owner of Moving Picture Weddings, a wedding cinematography company. We both love snowboarding, our spouses, and our dogs… not necessarily in that order. : )

Champagne: If you could photograph any one in the world, who would it be and why?

Evoke Boudoir: Ellen Page, I find her absolutely adorable, and think spending an hour with her would be nothing but laughs.

Champagne: Thank you, Joni and Marc [Evoke] for telling us more about your company! Make sure to check out their website and become a fan on facebook!!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Wishing you a day filled with love and laughter!!

Day 14 of 30: Peekaboo Portland

2 Comments • Posted by Champagne on January 20, 2010

Today is Rachelle’s birthday and so we decided to combine networking with a little relaxation, pampering and happy hour! Rachelle and I met Jessica Hill of Peekaboo Portland and Jessica Hill Photography for a manicure and pedicure at one of our favorite little spots on 21st Avenue, CT Nails and then headed over to 23Hoyt for a delicious happy hour! It has been a crazy busy week and so it was great to be able to slow down for a few hours, relax and talk shop!
Jessica Hill happens to be our feature today and has just announced her new Peekaboo Portland studio and her Valentine’s party she is having on January 30th [See more details below]! Jessica is bubbly, fun, energetic, talented and makes you feel comfortable the moment you meet her! If you’re looking for the perfect Valentine’s gift [Valentine’s day is just a month from today!] for your guy or wedding present for your groom… you should definitely consider a boudoir session! Worried you won’t be able to relax and be yourself? Don’t worry, Jessica will make you feel at ease and even better, make you feel beautiful inside and out! Get to know more about Jessica’s approach to gorgeous boudoir photographs…

Champagne: Where will the boudoir session take place?

Jessica: The Peekaboo session will take place in my downtown studio space. The space has exclusive backdrops and props, including various backgrounds and hip and fun furniture. The studio is located near the waterfront in the Pearl District.

image

Champagne: How many people will be present for the Boudoir shoot?

Jessica: The Peekaboo shoot is usually done by me only, although I occasionally use a female assistant for additional lighting and backdrop setups.

image

Champagne: Can they bring a friend?

Jessica: Of course! I do think that the sessions are a lot of fun with a friend, but only one or two so it’s not too crowded! I also host Peekaboo Parties so all of you and your girls can come together for a discounted rate. What a fun idea for a bachelorette party!!! I’m hostng a Peekaboo Party on January 30th for a great gift to your Valentine!

image

Champagne: If a woman is shy and very body conscious, how would you help make her feel comfortable?

Jessica: The Peekaboo shoots are all about comfort! Each woman chooses her own outfits and we look them over before each shoot. I ask what her (and his!) favorite and least favorite body parts are, so I know what to accentuate. If you are comfortable with a tank and boy shorts, that look can be really sexy!

image

Champagne: Do you retouch the images?

Jessica: All the images are touched up to look their very best!

image

Champagne: How would you help someone who wasn’t very photogenic and didn’t know how to pose?

Jessica: I show the woman how to pose first by actually getting into the pose myself and showing the woman exactly where to put their hands/feet/hips.. We also listen to fun music and laugh a lot, which helps the poses be more natural and not too stiff.

image

Champagne: How many change of clothes should they bring?

Jessica: For the normal 90 minute session, they should bring 4 different looks. It’s fun to incorporate a sexy number and then his favorite jersey, dress shirt or hat to personalize the photos for your guy!

image

Champagne: Do you have an onsite hair and make up artist?

Jessica: Yes, Jennifer Walker with Face Body Beauty has her new downtown studio on site to perfect that bedroom look, whether it be smokey eyes and tousled hair, or a more natural fresh look. She’s awesome!

image

Champagne: Anything else you’d like our readers to know?

Jessica: The Peekaboo sessions are a great and fun way to show your lover your sexy side! The photos are for his and your eyes only and I will never use the images on my website or blog unless you want me to. I’ve worked with women from size 0 to size 16 and everywhere in between. I love working with real women, never models and I position your body to make you look and feel your best. I love hearing the feedback from women who say that they have never looked sexier and they have a new confidence that they never knew they had! It’s a wonderful feeling to empower women with their own beauty!

image

Champagne: Thank you, Jessica, for telling us more about Peekaboo Portland! We look forward to working with you soon! Make sure to check out Peekaboo Portland’s website and keep up to date on peekaboo parties on the blog!
